  • Tanya DeSherlia and Mark Taylor, both of Vandalia, have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.


    The future bride is the daughter of Robert and Joan Langley of Vandalia. She is currently employed as an RN at St. Mary’s Hospital in the ER.
    The future groom is the son of Ed and Donna Taylor of Vandalia. He is currently employed as the director of operations at Octochem.
    The couple are planning a June 19, 2011, wedding.

  • The Rev. Casey and Flora Jones Sr. of Westmont, and formerly of Vandalia, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children on Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Westmont Centre.

  • Adrienne Smith of Brownstown and Walter Kinney of Vandalia were united in marriage on Nov. 20, 2010, at 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia with the Revs. Roger Grimmett of Vandalia and John Robinson of Brownstown officiating the double-ring ceremony.

  • March 8 is National Organize Your Home Office Day, and the third week of March is National Clutter Awareness Week.
    Louella Yakel refers to herself as “The De-clutter Gal,” as she has a business that specializing in helping others de-clutter their homes, thereby their environment and their lives.
    “I think I was born with the organizing gene,” she said. “I can remember as a little girl  cleaning out the desk drawers for my dad. He really appreciated it.”

  • Rummage sale this Saturday at FUMC

    A rummage sale will be held this Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.
    Sponsored by the United Methodist Women, the sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Wesley Hall, in the lower level of the church. Enter from the back door of the church, which is located at 127 N. Fourth St.
