    Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, will hold a one-night revival on Pentecost Sunday, this Sunday, at 6 p.m. under the theme of  “Fan the Flame.”

    At 1 p.m. Monday, guests were assembled at First United Methodist Church once again for Evergreen Outreach. As far as we know, there is nothing of its kind anywhere. It is a time of gathering together to celebrate life and show caring to those who don’t always have the chance to get out of their houses, nursing homes, or assisted living residences.

  • On Saturday afternoon, May 7, Dan and Barb Oberlink of Modern Woodmen (above) bought and brought the mulch to Main Street’s Lincoln Park, and spread the mulch.\

  • Ginger Freeman and Andrew Wehrle, both of Vandalia, have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.


    The future bride is the daughter of Donna Carrell and the late Gordon Carrell of Ramsey.
    The future groom is the son of Randy Wehrle of Ramsey and Lugene Fisher of Vandalia.
    The couple are planning a 4 p.m. wedding on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Ramsey Christian Church. A reception will be held at 7 p.m. at the Vandalia VFW.

  • On May 26, the ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met for its monthly meeting and luncheon at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia, with 23 members and four guests present.
    After the pledge to the flag, a moment of silence was held for Karl Jesgarz, a member of the club who died May 22.
    Brock Fisher gave the meal blessing.
    After the meal, President Dean Black opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and introducing the special guest, John Nestleroad, a supervisor at the Patoka ExxonMobil Tank Farm.

  • David and Kathleen Mahon of St. Peter will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary this Sunday.
    David Mahon and the former Kathleen Michel were married on June 12, 1966, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter.

  • On June 9, 1946, Millard Mills and Fairy Alice McIntyre were joined in marriage at the Avena Methodist Church, with the late Charles Simpkins officiating.


    The Millses are the parents of five children – Glen and his wife Ann, Marie and her husband Jim, Norma and her husband Joel, Ruth and her husband Lewis, and Mark and his wife Nancy.
    They have 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
    A card shower has been requested for the Millses.
