  • As the culmination of a five-day “week of prayer,” the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance last Thursday sponsored a prayer breakfast at the Crawford-Hale American Legion Home.

    What a great crowd was in attendance at Wesley Hall for Evergreen Outreach on Monday.
    We were entertained by the beautiful music played by Pam Childers. Some of her tunes included: “You Are My Sunshine,” “Oh, My Darling Clementine,” “Home On the Range” and “I’ve Been Working On the Railroad.”

  • My parents guided me to good table manners: “Don’t talk with your mouth full” and “Use your spoon, not your fingers for the peas.”

  • Lucille Fisher was surprised to see so many friends waiting for her at Mary Ann's Restaurant in St. Elmo recently to celebrate her 99th birthday.

    She was greeted by her friends from her breakfast club, Sefton Home and Community Education Unit, Golden Years Club and her bunco club. Seated, from left to right, are Shirley Klitzing, Edna Wright, Sandra Braasch and Carolyn Grames.     Kyle and Dawn Urban of St. Peter are the parents of a daughter born on May 2, 2012. She has been named Olivia Kay.
    She weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 19½ inches long.
    Grandparents are Larry and Sue Urban of St. Peter, and Vickie West of Kinmundy.

    Dexten Monroe Lotz, infant son of Nathan and Jessica Lotz, was baptized on Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. His sponsors were Bryan Lotz, Garrett Bartels and Joshua Bartels.

    • The annual Kid’s Klub Fun Fair will be from 6-8 p.m. in the First Church of God S.H.E.D. Vans will not run. All kids in third grade and under must be accompanied by an adult (high school or older). It will be the last Kid’s Klub until school starts in the fall. There will be games, inflatables, face-painting, hair paint and food
