  • The Fayette County Home and Community Education held its 63rd annual dinner and meeting on Tuesday, June 14, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with 44 members and five guests signing the register.

    I don’t know about all of you,  but I was very happy to have a warm DRY day on Monday. With all the rain we have had,  you can almost see the grass and weeds growing. I took advantage of the day and mowed my yard on Monday afternoon, as it looks like we have more rain in the forecast.
    We will be praying for some of this rain in August. It seems that we are never satisfied with the weather.

  • First Missionary Baptist to hold revival
    A summer revival will be held this Sunday through Wednesday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Royal Lake No. 2.
    The theme for the revival will be "Restoration," with that idea coming from the writings of the Old Testament prophets. Services will begin at 6:30 p.m. each day.

  • A few months ago, I heard this incredible story on a radio talk show that I listen to every night. Through research on the Internet, I found that it is, in fact, a true story and was taken from a speech given by former Arkansas governor and potential presidential candidate Mike Huckabee at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 2, 2007.
