  • “Basket of Memories” was the theme of the St. Elmo Alumni Banquet held the evening of May 28 in the high school gym, with more than 200 alumni and guests attending. More than 160 had made reservations. The alumni came from 16 states, 43 towns and cities in Illinois and 33 from St. Elmo.
    A retired agriculture teacher, Richard Lowe of St. Elmo, attended. Following are the alumni, and if a state isn’t listed, the town is in Illinois.
    1934-Jennie Alice Logue Harner of St. Elmo.
    1938-Gilbert Wright and Millard Mills, both of St. Elmo.

  • Revival is Sunday at Northside Christian
    Do you want to “fan the flame” you once had? Maybe you once had a “fire” to worship and serve the Lord, but circumstances in your life – or even church – put that fire out!

    Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, will hold a one-night revival on Pentecost Sunday, this Sunday, at 6 p.m. under the theme of  “Fan the Flame.”

    At 1 p.m. Monday, guests were assembled at First United Methodist Church once again for Evergreen Outreach. As far as we know, there is nothing of its kind anywhere. It is a time of gathering together to celebrate life and show caring to those who don’t always have the chance to get out of their houses, nursing homes, or assisted living residences.
