  • Northside planning couples retreat

    On Saturday, Feb. 25, Northside Christian Church will host a Couples Retreat from 9 a.m. until noon. Linda Cope, a counselor from First Christian Church in Greenville, will be the speaker. The retreat is designed for everyone – those who are married, in a relationship or considering marriage. The goal is to strengthen relationships, no matter how long people have been together, through Biblical concepts, personal testimony and professional advice.

    At Evergreen Outreach, when it comes to the heart, everyone is family and every Monday is Valentine’s Day.
    Accenting this week’s Valentine's Day party were hearts in various forms, which included decorations on the tables as well as on the piano.
    Our pianist, Bernie Ray, selected lovely and appropriate music as the guests arrived. Volunteers served refreshments of cookies, iced tea and coffee.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dunaway of New Palestine, Ind., formerly of Vandalia, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 3.

  • Katie Schumacher and Mitchel Casey, both of Rancho Cucmonga, Calif., were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2011, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Sigel, with the Rev. Bud DeGrand officiating.

    Congratulations to Brett Harmeier for being named to an area all-star basketball team.
    His team will be playing a team made up of players from the Oil Belt Conference at Odin Jr./Sr. High School on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
    The area all-stars are made up of players from surrounding schools that are not part of the Oil Belt Conference. Brett is the son of Dan and Kari Harmeier of St. Peter and a student at St. Peter Lutheran School.
