    Pastor William, Roxanne and Clara Emrick of St. Peter attended the wedding of Joseph Emrick and Carissa Brown in Vine Grove, Ky., on Saturday. The Rev. David Tannahill officiated, with Pastor Emrick assisting.
    Turkey Supper News
    All good things must come to an end – the LWML regretfully retired its annual turkey supper this year.
    However, the PTL and other church and school members are having a turkey supper on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m., in the school gym.

  • ‘Horse Sense’
    We have always heard the phrase “horse sense,” which, we figured, meant being logical or practical. This theory seems to have been proven last week.
    The neighbor’s pretty horses, “Flash,” the paint, and “Strait,” the bay, have often visited us across the corner fence close to our house. They seem interested in what we are doing when we are out in the yard.

  • Fusion 3D youth event is this weekend

    Family Worship Center in Vandalia will hold a youth conference called Fusion 3D this Friday and Saturday at the church.
    The event – which includes music, dramas, food and prizes – will be held at 7 p.m. Friday night and from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. For information, call 977-8485.

    Master Plan sings Saturday at Columbus

    The singing group Master Plan will perform at Columbus Baptist Church in Keyesport at 6 p.m. this Saturday.

    Evergreen Outreach was held amid the pelting rain on Monday. Volunteers ran into Wesley Hall as the guests were unloaded from their buses under the shelter of the church's awning.
    Inside, the musical talent of Betty Stolte was filling the hall. “This is the Day That the Lord has Made,” “Praise the Lord,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee,” “As Time Goes By” and so many other toe-tapping numbers. Betty has a wonderful gift on the piano.

  • The 20th Central Illinois Honor Flight, taking World War II veterans to see their memorial in Washington, D.C., left Marion at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13.

  • A benefit fundraiser is being planned for 5-month-old Kinley Walker, who is awaiting a liver transplant at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
    Kinley is the daughter of Troy and Hannah (Schroeder) Walker of St. Elmo. Troy graduated from St. Elmo High School and Hannah graduated from Altamont High School. Troy is involved in farming and sells Beck’s Seed, and Hannah works at the Wellness Complex of Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
    Kinley has two sisters, Morgan, age 13 and Reagan, age 10, who both attend school in St. Elmo.
