  • The word “mutual” can be defined as “generally shared in, or participated in, by members of a community,” which is probably the reason the word was incorporated into the title of Vandalia Mutual Fire County Insurance Co. when it was chartered on March 29, 1888, and organized on April 7, 1888.

  • The Vandalia Performing Arts Center held a Princess Party on Saturday, with 17 young girls attending.

    The party included nail-painting, karaoke, bouncy house, games, craft work and a princess cake (second photo). The girls also had their photo taken with Miss Fayette County Marisa Thomason and Jr. Miss Fayette County Brooke Mayfield (first photo).
     

  • Hoffman
    The Hoffman Family Reunion met at Rogier Park in Vandalia on June 17.
    Five families were not represented: Leonard, Harry, Edmund, Arnold and Raymond Hoffman.
    • Albert Hoffman family members present were: Evelyn and Gary Probst of Ramsey, Connie Weller of Bethalto, May Delia Probst of Bingham, and Alan and Christy Probst of Fillmore.

  • Logan Matthew Sasse
    Matthew and Sarah Sasse of Vandalia are the parents of a boy born at 10:12 a.m. on Monday, May 28, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

  • Crystal N. Stevenson of Greenville and Matthew E. Blankenship of Mulberry Grove have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.

  • Heather Amanda Meseke and John R. Wilson have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.


    The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Meseke of Shobonier, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Meseke of Shobonier.
    The future groom is the son of John Wilson of Amarillo, Texas, Hazel Willshire of Austin, Texas,  and Mr. and Mrs. Shane Pinnell of Greenville.
    The couple are planning a Sept. 2 wedding at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia.

  • Kayla VonBehren and Jacob Etcheson have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.

  • Tresnee Willms and Eric Adams, both of Brownstown, have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Larry England of Vandalia will celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children at their daughter’s home.
