  • Sausage Supper
    The annual sausage supper, hosted by the Men of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. in the school gym.

    Attendance on Saturday night was 215. Attendance on Sunday was 79.
    The organist was the Rev. Alan Holtz. Luke Bergmann served as acolyte.
    Elders were Reggie Grandt and Jay Rothe.

  • The good news is that new opportunities for shoppers and those needing services and/or information continue to grow in downtown Vandalia, as previously vacant storefronts are filling up with displays.

  • Dana Frances Kirk and Craig Michael Kern, both of Vandalia, were united in marriage in a ceremony on Sept. 29, 2012, at Liberty Church in Bingham.

  • Don and Emily Ehrat of rural Shobonier will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1-3 p.m. this Sunday at the Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church Parish Hall in rural Shobonier.

  • Partners in the newest business in downtown Vandalia, Nathan Dothager and Cody Scott are local men, and both grew up and attended school in Vandalia.

  • It is a common and wise practice for a potential buyer of a vehicle to have it checked over by a qualified and knowledgeable person to determine if there are any existing problems or conditions that may cause future problems or safety hazards that would require expensive repairs or replacements.

    Christmas evening guests of the Harpsters were: Mitch, Gretchen and Owen Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Ben, Amanda, Madison and Dru Eller of Jackson, Mo.; Mahala Harpster and Nathan Jacquin; and Rollie and Trieva Henson.

    Has a Higher Power been trying to tall me something – Is the electronic age rebelling against me … or is it my hair (which sometimes seems to attract electric waves) ??
    In recent weeks, # 1-Unsolicited by me, my laptop was being “updated” (apparently by Yahoo) every time I opened it for two days! Results? Many procedures were changed, including the one to e-mail photographs.
