  • Clarence and Jeanette Wodtka will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary next Friday.

  • Bethel Baptist Church, located northwest of Vandalia on Ill. Route 185, has announced its schedule for Easter services:
    • Thursday – Maundy Thursday services. Worship will be centered on "The Seven Last Words of Christ."
    • Easter Sunday – 7 a.m., sunrise services; 7:30 a.m., Easter breakfast; 9 a.m., Sunday School; and 10:15 a.m., Bethel choir Easter cantata – "Run to the Cross."
    The public is invited to participate in the church's services.

    God was with us again at Evergreen Outreach – he never fails! We welcomed everyone with a bit of music from the “Down by the River to Pray” CD.
    It was very good to get FAYCO and Fayette County Hospital LTC all together again! We sang our welcome song and our meeting songs a capella while three volunteers held up the big cards with words.

    … of the list of grandparents and great-grandparents of Dawson Duane and Cade Ryan Willms, in the recent story of the 1-year-old twin sons of Trevor and Megan Willms.
       It should have read as follows: grandparents: Duane and Laura Willms, Jim and Toni Dugan; and great-grandparents: Don and Ellen Willms, the late Jean and Bernie Schorsch, Elmo Linton, Donna Hill, David and Ruth Dugan, Shirley Knue and Bonnie Maples.

    • The Fayette County School Art Show at the Fayette County Museum, Vandalia starts today and will continue through Tuesday, April 7. It will be in the upstairs Artworks Gallery. Monday through Saturday, the museum is open from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This Sunday, it will be open from 1-4 p.m.
    • St. Elmo Business Association, noon, Mary Ann’s Restaurant.
    • Maundy Thursday service, 7 p.m., First United Methodist Church sanctuary.

  • The fifth Lenten Luncheon, sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance of Vandalia, was held in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church.

  • Approximately 90-100 people gathered at Unity Baptist Church last Wednesday for the fourth Lenten Luncheon.  

  • Murl Williams
    Murl Williams of Collegedale, Tenn., formerly of the St. Elmo-Brownstown area, celebrated his 95th birthday this Wednesday.

    His family is requesting a card shower in his honor.
