  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met on March 28 at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia, with 31 members and six guests present. Guests attending were Kenneth and Angie Hagan, Millie Brooks, George Feezel, Amy Greer and Pat Hamilton.
    President Dean Black welcomed all members and guests followed by the pledge to the flag. Pat Caldwell gave the meal blessing.
    After the meal, Black opened the meeting by thanking everyone for their continued support for his wife, Elloise, and others facing health issues.

    Beulah Brown
    A bright and cheerful 90th birthday celebration for Beulah Brown was held at the home of Phyllis Rames.
    More than 20 women came to wish Beulah happy birthday and many more.
    Those present reminisced about her many years in Brownstown and Vandalia, and there were a few stories about her growing up just west of Effingham. She shared stories about her hundreds of students and travels.

    Representing Fayette County HCE (District 6), Flo Allen, Panzi Blackwell, Anna Jean Rhodes and Debbie Segrest attended the three-day 89th annual conference of the Illinois Association  for Home and Community Education at the Keller Convention in Effingham on March 12-14. Blackwell and Segrest were also voting delegates. Also representing Fayette County for part of the conference were Debbie Swain, Phyllis Pryor and Elizabeth Kasten.

    As this was the first pretty deep snow in Katy’s young life, we wondered how she would take to it. No problem!
    She went outside wagging her tail (behind her) and showed no distress or uneasiness as she went about her usual business.  She seems to be an all-weather dog, as she doesn’t mind the rain, either.

    He weighed 4 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 18 inches long.
