    Matthew and Misty Walton of Hillsboro are the parents of a girl born at 11:27 p.m. on April 30, 2017.
    Nora Lucille weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 20 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Harold and Wilma Pfeifer of New Palestine, Ind., and the late Sherry Pfeifer. Paternal grandparents are Steve and Kay Walton of Shobonier.
    Elaine Lange of Shobonier is the paternal great-grandmother.

  • Ellie Ehrat and John Doyle, both of Decatur, have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.

  • Bunny Population Growing
    Since Bill’s little baby bunny friend started hanging around the chicken pen area, we have seen other apparent members of his family.
    Note: Although our first thought was to name  him “Thumper,” we’ve decided a more appropriate name for him would be “Buddy,” as he doesn’t seem to be afraid of Bill, but lets him get within 3 feet before he moves away.

    • The Fayette County Amateur Town and Country Art Show and Professional Art Show will be open to the public at 1-8 p.m. in the Artworks Gallery in the upstairs of the Fayette County Museum, Vandalia. The showing will be on Sunday, June 25.

  • “Missouri Pete” Eating, Doing Good …
    … but we think he is missing his buddy and pal, “Joe.”
    Pete is very sociable – he wags his tail and jumps around when he sees us, comes to the car for petting when we are leaving or returning, does not bark or “whine.” He is the perfect doggie guest, but where are times when he just seems to be looking a little lonely.

  • Back Porch Residency Growing
    The mother robin seems to have “opened the door” for other mother birds looking for a safe location in which to hatch and raise their babies – the Homestead back porch (or deck, as Bill refers to it. To me, a deck with a roof is a porch.)
