  • Why is it so much easier to see others' shortcomings

Parking is hardly ever convenient, and, in most cases, turns out to be a discouraging part of the driving experience. It seems to me that much of the problem is related to our obsession with comfort. We would like to park as close as possible to our destination, and so we invent ingenious ways of achieving that goal. In this respect, I’m just an average American driver.

  • View life's ups and downs with a cheerful heart

I ran an errand early on the Sunday morning before Christmas. The light snow falling created a picturesque scene. I stepped on the sidewalk in front of a home and took one step. The next thing was a blur of coat and me hitting the sidewalk. I think the older I get, the harder I fall. I laid there for a minute, and then began to smile. I hope someone, anyone who saw this got a good laugh. My pride was hurt the worst, and then, a few hours later, other aches and pains began to settle in.

  • The light shines in the darkness

We just celebrated Christmas, the birthday of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. I ask you to consider reading and praying with the Prologue of John’s Gospel (verses 1-14) as we begin another New Year.
The Prologue is as deeply theological as it is beautiful. John the Evangelist proclaims the Incarnation of God, the most fundamental truth of Christianity, in the immortal words of his Prologue as he makes the connection between Jesus Christ and the Logos or Word of God.

With the holidays just around the corner, everyone at Evergreen Outreach is experiencing the warmth, excitement and anticipation of upcoming events.
Our tables were decorated with candles, greenery and glitter, provided by Marie Sutton and helpers, Louise Kruenegel and Genelle Hachat.
We had a capacity crowd (head count of more than 100), and volunteers scrambled for more chairs.
