  • Evergreen Outreach

    By Charlene M. Jett
Monday was beautiful, and I’m not just talking about the warm weather and sunshine.  Most of our Evergreen Outreach  regulars were with us, and we still had room for newcomers, like Max Maxwell (Brownstown).
God bless them all. Bette Stolte, whose delightful fingers have NOT been slowed down by her recent surgery, played the piano and lifted our mood and hearts.

  • Through Jesus' sacrifice, God is pleased with us

The season of Lent is upon us.  It consists of days during which Christians study the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
During the Passion of Christ, he was tempted by Satan. Matthew’s gospel states, in chapter 4, verse 10, that Jesus faced Satan and said to him, “Be gone, Satan, for it is written, 'For the Lord you shall worship and you shall serve him only.'"

  • Evergreen Outreach

    By Charlene M. Jett
At last we are back to a semblance of normal, thank you, God. After a most difficult and cold winter, we had another successful Evergreen Outreach meeting on Monday.  And I’m 99 percent over my cold. Yea for  sunshine and warm weather!
The Rev. Jim Fackler and his infamous, gold-plated joke book was our leader. We missed Donna Smith and her husband, so we had to sing our special meeting songs a-capella. Not really a good ring to the ears, but a good message to the heart.

  • Transfiguration of Jesus was an account of three mountains

On the day of his transfiguration (literally a metamorphosis), Jesus took three of his disciples (Peter, James and John) “and led them up a high mountain…His face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.

  • Is love really love if it's not expressed in words or deeds?

"Most people grow in love with, and marry people who meet their needs." This statement, by Dr. Hafer, was shared with us one Thursday morning at the weekly seminar he led for a small group of ministers in our town.
