Monday was a picture-perfect autumn day. The sun was shining, the air was cool and the trees were beginning to show their colors. I welcome the cooler weather after what seemed like a long, hot summer.
Evergreen Outreach is once again meeting at Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church following several months at Fayette County Long Term Care.

  • Our faith – not just our knowledge – gives us power

We do not know that there is a God. We do not know that. We believe there is a God.
We do not know that the Son of God died for our sins; and as a result, you and I have forgiveness for our sins and salvation.  We do not know that. We believe that.

  • Read through Bible; it will be a light to your path

“Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ,” wrote St. Jerome. He is important for his translation of the Judeo-Christian Bible into the common language of the Roman Empire. Jerome’s interpretation, called the Vulgate, is still used today.
For centuries, translators and interpreters have labored diligently to put the Hebrew of the First Testament and the Greek of the Second Testament into words people can understand who do not read the ancient languages. Their interest was to bring Christ to people in their native tongue.
