Our language is full of phrases that we can use to encourage people who are dealing with disappointing results  or unexpected outcomes. We remind ourselves that our ship will come in one day.

I don’t know about all of you,  but I was very happy to have a warm DRY day on Monday. With all the rain we have had,  you can almost see the grass and weeds growing. I took advantage of the day and mowed my yard on Monday afternoon, as it looks like we have more rain in the forecast.
We will be praying for some of this rain in August. It seems that we are never satisfied with the weather.

A few months ago, I heard this incredible story on a radio talk show that I listen to every night. Through research on the Internet, I found that it is, in fact, a true story and was taken from a speech given by former Arkansas governor and potential presidential candidate Mike Huckabee at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 2, 2007.

  • Evergreen Outreach-June 16, 2011

    By Edith Elliott
Evergreen Outreach brought lots of smiles on Monday.
There were songs, balloons, regular jokes, "knock, knock" jokes and devotionals – something for everyone!
Donna Smith was back to play the piano as guests arrived. It's so good to have her back to play once a month for us. Some of her tunes were: "How Much is That Doggie in the Window?," "Anchors Aweigh," "He's Too Fat for Me" and "The Lily of the Valley."

Recently, a pastor and his small flock made the news by announcing the date of the second coming of Jesus Christ. They were so sure of the date that many of his followers gave away their possessions, quit their day jobs and “hunkered down” in anticipation of the Parousia – the second coming of the Lord.

Revival is Sunday at Northside Christian
Do you want to “fan the flame” you once had? Maybe you once had a “fire” to worship and serve the Lord, but circumstances in your life – or even church – put that fire out!
Are you looking to reignite that flame? Are you looking to have in you the same fire you see in others?
Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, will hold a one-night revival on Pentecost Sunday, this Sunday, at 6 p.m. under the theme of  “Fan the Flame.”
