Revival is June 12 at Northside Christian
Do you want to “fan the flame” you once had? Maybe you once had a “fire” to worship and serve the Lord, but circumstances in your life – or even church – put that fire out!
Are you looking to reignite that flame? Are you looking to have in you the same fire you see in others?
Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, will hold a one-night revival on Pentecost Sunday, June 12, at 6 p.m. under the theme of  “Fan the Flame.”

If you are reading this article, it means one of two things:  Either you were overlooked in the most recent prediction of the “rapture,” or yet another self professed prophet of God has given us yet another bogus date on when the end of the world will take place.

What a day! This was a day that started off sunny, was supposed to reach 80 degrees, but ended up 53 degrees as I drove home. It has been an erratic spring!
However, we had wonderful music. As we entered Evergreen Outreach, SoftFire was playing “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “Oh, What a Wonderful Day.”

We were excited to see the sun shining on Monday as we arrived at the First United Methodist Church for Evergreen Outreach. The warmth from the sun was delightful, despite the cool breeze. We have experienced such a variety of temperature highs and lows here lately. You know what they say about Illinois, “If you don’t like the weather today, stick around, it will change tomorrow.”

Floods are definitely on our minds these days. The town branch has swollen to very high levels. The Mississippi is near record levels. There are plenty of news reports of people losing their homes and property, and many fields and farms are under water waiting for drier days.

  • Prayer at Courthouse

Judge S. Gene Schwarm welcomed participants in last Wednesday's prayer event outside the Fayette County Courthouse.

The early morning gathering was part of the local "week of prayer" activities at various locations around Vandalia – including Vandalia City Hall, Vandalia Community High School. The weeklong observance culminated with a prayer breakfast on Thursday – the national day of prayer – at Crawford-Hale American Legion Home.
