  • Evergreen Outreach

Is anyone ready for spring?   Again, we had to cancel Evergreen Outreach, due to the very cold weather. Not only do we need prayers to get through this, but we need to have some more fun – right?
So, let’s pretend this is our meeting! Here we go:

  • What can one person do? With God, plenty!

Manuel T. Gonzaullas was born in 1891 in Cádiz, Spain, to a Spanish father and Canadian mother, who were both naturalized U.S. citizens. In 1911, at the age of 20, he served as a major in the Mexican Army. Later, in 1920, he joined the Texas Rangers.

  • Kolb leaving Holy Cross to go to the mission field

After ministering to the congregation of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia for the past seven years, the Rev. Peter Kolb has accepted a call to do missionary work in Asia.

As I sit to write this, I’m still full of joy and wonder at how much fun Evergreen Outreach is! What a great day we had!  Old man winter may be threatening and cold, but he can never stop our spirit and love for each other!

  • God's prescription for worship includes the church

"Therefore brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and well pleasing to God. This is your spiritual worship." (Romans 12:1, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

  • In spiritual issues, the king is never in checkmate

“Check Mate” is a famous painting of a chess game that,  to the casual observer, leaves its audience walking away from it with a feeling of defeat.

    Women's study now under way

The women of Brownstown First Christian Church last week began a weekly study of the Bible book of Daniel. It will be held on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
The study, titled “Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy,” was created by Beth Moore.
The first part studies Daniel’s life, as he faced pressures and temptations similar to those that Christians encounter today.
The second part explores the prophecies from the time of Daniel to the second coming of Jesus Christ.

On Monday, we held “the meeting that never was.” The bitter cold weather put a nasty chill on the SoftFire brass, not to mention it totally cratered most everyone’s hopes for getting outside for any fun.
So this report is just to let everyone know we still love and miss you all.

  • God gives us a second chance – don't run away!

When we were children, we were told many stories from the Bible that we still remember today. We heard about Daniel in the lion’s den, Noah and the ark and, of course, each year we heard about the birth of baby Jesus.
We may not have understood the full meaning of theses stories in the Bible, but we knew that there was something very special about them.
