• Like Jackie Robinson, Jesus broke through barriers that divided people

Until the movie “42” came out this year, many people could not tell you anything about Jackie Robinson.

We need to syncronize our watches!
We start the Evergreen Outreach program at 1 p.m. every Monday. You can come early and visit if you want, but you will miss lots of fun and music if you leave early. Please don’t try to squeeze all this wonderfulness in to a 30-45 minute program. So, alert your bus drivers. You can always stay late and visit, just please don’t leave in the middle of the program. It might offend our highly trained and overpaid professional musicians and singers. HA!

  • The Bible doesn't degrade women, it elevates them

There is a common notion that women are relegated to a low status in the Bible. This thought is as mistaken as the idea that slavery is justified in the Bible.

The truth of the matter is that the Bible is addressed to the culture of its day. Israel, to whom the Old Testament was addressed, became a nation around 1450-1250 BC. Paganism existed throughout the world,  with its mass killings of people groups, slavery and suppression of women, as well as the sacrificial system to pagan deities.

Monday was a hot summer day and we didn’t need warming up! Our leader was actually SoftFire (David and Patricia Pence). They got things rolling at 12:45, and had a jump on everyone! I think they must have camped out all night at the church or something to get all their brass and electronics set up that early.
Our cookies were from the Emmanuel United Methodist Women of Brownstown and we sang "Happy Birthday" to a new member, Josh McMorris.

Yes, summer finally is here! It was lovely and warm as we started the Evergreen Outreach meeting on Monday; wish we could save some for this winter!
Bernie Ray welcomed everyone with her sweet piano music – minus the sheet music.  She just sits down and lets her fingers do the playing.
Our refreshments were served and we sang "Happy Birthday" to those with birthdays: Janet Lusch, Betty Stone, Erna Wasmuth, Pauline Radcliff, Norma Shafter, Norma Simmons and Randy Owens.
