    Pancake and sausage dinner Thursday at First Methodist

    The United Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church of Vandalia will host its annual pancake and sausage dinner this Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
    The meal will be served in Wesley Hall, and customers are asked to enter from the back parking lot of the church, which is located at 127 N. Fourth St.
    Free-will donations will be accepted to raise funds for United Methodist Men’s projects, such as buying coats and shoes for needy children in area schools.

    "Most people grow in love with, and marry people who meet their needs." This statement, by Dr. Hafer, was shared with us one Thursday morning at the weekly seminar he led for a small group of ministers in our town.

    First Presbyterian trivia night

    First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia is sponsoring a trivia night on Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
    Teams of eight to 10 players are now being accepted, with registration being $100 per table.
    Concessions will be available and a silent auction will be held. To register, call Becky Lambert at 704-0204. For information, call 283-0937.
    Proceeds will go to the church building fund.

    An enjoyable hour is always reserved for everyone attending Evergreen Outreach each Monday. To many, it is the highlight of their week.
    There was a capacity crowd on hand this week, awaiting special entertainment presented by David and Patricia Pence (the SoftFire duo from Hillsboro). They always have outstanding selections and p;ay a wide variety of instruments.

    Class to be offered on financial peace
    Parkview Free Methodist Church of Vandalia will offer a program on financial managment every Tuesday, beginning next week.
    Called Financial Peace University, the program will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 1507 W. Jefferson St.

    Is anyone ready for spring?   Again, we had to cancel Evergreen Outreach, due to the very cold weather. Not only do we need prayers to get through this, but we need to have some more fun – right?

    Manuel T. Gonzaullas was born in 1891 in Cádiz, Spain, to a Spanish father and Canadian mother, who were both naturalized U.S. citizens. In 1911, at the age of 20, he served as a major in the Mexican Army. Later, in 1920, he joined the Texas Rangers.

    After ministering to the congregation of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia for the past seven years, the Rev. Peter Kolb has accepted a call to do missionary work in Asia.
