  • Fill your life with Jesus, and he will calm your fears

God help us seek the things that are above us and not set our hearts on things of this world. The things that last are the things of God; the gifts of God’s Spirit (Psalm 49).

  • Evergreen Outreach

I went into Monday's Evergreen Outreach  meeting subdued, highly organized and behaving properly.
I came out full of joyful chaos, and thankful I don’t have to pay God for all he gives me. In dollars, this would amount to much more than a New York psychiatrist makes. Thank you, God.
Our program started with Bette Stolte on the piano, playing all our favorites. Her fingers were flying. All I could do was la-la-la.

  • Getting into heaven is Jesus' work – not ours

Are you going to heaven? If so, why? Some might say, “because I am a good person.” Some might look at others and say, “I am not as bad as others, I haven’t killed anyone. Nor have I locked anyone in my basement.” Some might say, “I am not sure.”

  • Evergreen Outreach

This week's Evergreen Outreach started out right, with the Rev. Jim Fackler in charge. And, of course, it is his “masterpiece” – a 3-inch-thick joke book that he has hopes of selling! All kidding aside, a very big thanks to him and Donna Smith (our pianist). They got us started on our two E.O. songs, while everyone ate the cookies that Sharon Mueller baked. Thank you Sharon! Our entertainer for the day was Dave Korte, with his guitar, from Highland. He is affiliated with Korte Construction.

  • We often must choose from the greater of two goods

I am sure all of you have heard the phrase “choosing the lesser of two evils.” It is a term that can be applied to a variety of situations; in my experience, most often to politics.

Wow, did we start off slowly on Monday. No music, no pastor, no leader! Now, this must be where the technique of flying by the seat of your pants was invented! Just like we don’t melt when we get rained on, we just kept going! And that is what we did!
We did manage to sing "Happy Birthday" to Pam Burton, Judy Flowers, Burton Graff and Flo Lange.
