Evergreen Outreach met at Fayette County Hospital's Long Term Care this week.
Bemie Ray was seated at the piano playing beautiful songs from a list she had made. She needed no music sheets, but played the following from memory: “Love Letters in the Sand," "Alice Blue Gown," "Ole Shanty Town" and "Down Mexico Way."

Salvation Army raises $15,200 in county

The Salvation Army bell ringers in Fayette County raised a record-breaking $15,200 from their efforts during the Christmas holiday season. Last year, $15,022 was raised.
The volunteers rang the bells for more than 210 hours at locations across Fayette County. Donations were collected from shoppers, who put money in the Salvation Army kettles.

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. (Galatians 4:4-5)
The joy we celebrate at Christmas is for the arrival of the long-awaited Savior, Jesus in the flesh. In Luke, chapter two, Mary and Joseph are carrying the infant Jesus, who is 40 days old. Jesus, the savior of the world, makes his entrance into the temple in Jerusalem. It was time for Mary and Joseph to offer the required sacrifice for the first-born male.

Pam Childers played good, old-time tunes Monday as the Evergreen Outreach guests assembled. She played "I’m Lookin’ Over a Four-Leaf Clover," "Jeepers Creepers (Where’d You Get Those Peepers)", "By the Light of the Silvery Moon," "My Ragtime Gal," "And the Band Played On," "Clementine," "Bicycle Built for Two," "I’ve Been Working on the Railroad" and "Auld Lang Syne," so appropriate for the second day of the new year.
