  • Place all your life in God's hands on Day of Prayer

At-the-ready, the equipment stood in the field. A turn of the switch and the giant machine would begin its task of preparing the soil and planting the seeds to feed the world. But Harold insisted on “first things first.” He knew the land, the seed, the machinery – everything – belonged to God.

  • Evergreen Outreach

It was dangerous going to Evergreen Outreach on Monday. The Rev. Jim Fackler brought his joke book! All kidding aside, it was a really good meeting.
We sang our EO songs and had lots of helpers. Isn’t it nice to have helpers! And speaking of a good helper, Donna Smith welcomed us all with her sweet piano music. It definitely calms everyone.
Our refreshments were provided by Jill Zimmer. We sang “Happy Birthday” to Jennifer Wilmer, Robert Nelson and Betty Turner before Fackler started our devotions.

  • Your life of faith all starts with a simple choice

Nearly all of the decisions I make are alike in that they have practically no effect on anyone outside my family.

At last, the daffodils were up and the sun was shining as we held our Evergreen Outreach meeting on Monday. Everyone was ready and happy to be together again, since we were snowed out last week by 12 inches of snow. Whew – glad that is over!
Sharing our faith through prayer, scripture and song made it a glorious meeting. The nice lobby/living room of Vandalia Rehabilitation was packed! Beulah Brown tried to pull a fast April fool’s joke and made everyone look outside when she exclaimed it was raining! Tsk, tsk.

  • Believers should have hearts that burn for Christ

Luke 24 paints a vibrant picture of events following the resurrection of Christ. In this passage, we find a couple of men walking along a road talking about the events of the past weekend.

  • In the resurrection, God has conquered sin, death

“On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb” (John 20:1).

Monday's Evergreen Outreach meeting started with a smile, as Phyllis Rames was our leader. It was smooth as silk and warm as toast, in spite of the blustery cold weather.
Three quarters of the Fourgiven Quartet made their way to Wesley Hall to share their faith and Southern gospel music with us. They were DeWayne Brown, lead singer, Bob Culbertson, tenor singer, and Jeff Hempkin, baritone singer and piano player.    Refreshments were provided by EO and volunteers.

  • A word from the wise – don't forget the ChapStick

I once was selected by the Army to attend a training course at Fort Bragg, N.C. Prior to reporting to duty, the training center sent a “packing list” of all required field items that were to be in my possession to attend the course.
