  • First Christian offers challenge to area churches

First Christian Church in Vandalia sponsored the Central Illinois Mobile Food Bank on June 13, and is hoping others follow its lead.
The Mobile Food Bank regularly holds several distributions in this area each year, but has been short on funds.
First Christian Church is now challenging other area churches to show their support for this program by sponsoring food bank visits in the future.
For more information, or to sponsor a food bank distribution, contact the Fayette County Farm Bureau, 283-3276.

This is a happiness message from Evergreen Outreach! In spite of all the goodness and effort going into today’s meeting, it was canceled – potentially too hot and humid! I think this may be a first, except for the year of the great drought.
I miss my friends, the prayers and the music and I know you all will miss each other. Just repeat after me, “We’re here for fun right from the start, etc”.
This good weather is the best time of year for our get-together and outings.

  • What you glean from church in the long haul makes a difference

Radical, amazing, spectacular, fantastic and life-changing are words that describe the kind of experience for which so many are looking. Everyone wants a momentary breakthrough and an explosive weekend extravaganza.

What a present we had today from Evergreen Outreach, a huge blessing named Harold Swofford. As our main entertainer, well more about him later!

  • OASIS from Unity Bapist goes to Branson

The excitement was growing as 42 seniors boarded the Cavilla big green bus to head to Branson on Tuesday, June 22.
The group enjoyed seeing old friends and making new as they played “all about me” games, singing and playing bingo on the bus. By the time they reached the Six Flags area, they decided to have breakfast.
After another stop for lunch in Springfield, Mo., for lunch, they arrived at Grand Oakes Hotel, their home away from home for the next four days.

God’s angel in charge of “Joyful Noise” landed at Evergreen Outreach on Monday. I expect the angel in charge of Pastor James Fackler had a senior moment, because we missed pastor VERY much!
However, Donna Smith, with her quiet demeanor was our leader and pianist, while I was somewhere in the clouds, looking for more angels!

Another great day at Evergreen Outreach and First United Methodist Church in Vandalia. Our leader was Beulah Brown (I’ll tell you more about the hidden secrets she brought later).
Our mighty fine and exuberant pianist was Bette Stolte. She came loaded with a touch of dynamite in her fingertips!
