  • OASIS group takes four-day outing to Wisconsin

    By Ginger Wells
The OASIS group from First Baptist Church of Vandalia recently took a trip to Northern Illinois and Wisconsin.
The theme of the trip was "Christmas in July." The group boarded the coach on Tuesday, July 15, and returned on Saturday, July 19.
Each person brought bingo and Christmas grab bag gifts, and was anticipating a Christmas holiday – minus the snow and sleet. We got to know each other by playing games and singing.

It was a good day on Monday for our weekly Evergreen Outreach meeting – not a cloud in the sky. We welcomed  everyone with music, smiles and handshakes. All signs of good friendship.
Our refreshments  gave us time to get re-acquainted, since for some it has been a couple of weeks since we've seen each other.  We sang "Happy Birthday" to John Bollinger, and Randy Schukar gave us an update on his mom, Katy, who is in the hospital. We will pray for her.

It was wonderful, welcoming music that opened this week's Evergreen Outreach meeting and raised our spirits. SoftFire (David and Patricia Pence and their border collies) welcomed everyone with old-time hymns.
We shared refreshments and caught up with everyone, but we really missed FAYCO.  We also missed Katie and Randy Schukar. We hope that they can come next week; we count on them being here! We plan and hope to see you all.
