  • Anniversary

    Charles and Marilyn Francis of Vandalia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this Thursday.
    Charles and the former Marilyn Noffsinger were married on Oct. 28, 1950, by the late Rev. J.H. Reeter.
    Marilyn is the daughter of the late Samuel and Dora Noffsinger. Charles is the son of the late Adolph and Rachel Francis.
    Charles and Marilyn were owner/operators of Charles Carpet and Upholstery for several years, and Charles helped organize and was active in the Okaw Saddle Club, where he showed quarter horses.

    Anita Griffin of Vandalia will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 1:30-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Augsburg parish hall.
    All friends are invited to attend the reception, which is being hosted by her family. No gifts, please. A card shower has also been requested.

    Clair Elizabeth Martin
    Jason and Laura Martin of Powhaton, Va., are the parents of a girl born on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010.
    She weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces. She was named Clair Elizabeth.
    She has one brother, 3-year-old Luke.
    Grandparents are Woody and Marilyn Fisher of Amelia, Va. Great-grandmother is Lucille Fisher of Brownstown.
     

  • Krutsinger – White

    Brittany Krutsinger of Kinmundy and Cameron White of Vandalia were united in marriage on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Roger Grimmett officiating.
    The bride is the daughter of Kim and Daniel Cousineau of Kinmundy, and Michael Krutsinger of Mt. Vernon.
    She chose her friend, Leah Lane, as her maid of honor, and the groom’s sister, Keely Burns, as her matron of honor.
    Bridesmaids were Tiffany Robison, cousin of the bride; and Sarah Webster and Ashley Wooden, friends of the bride.

  • Swofford – 50 Years

    Harold and Judy LaDuke Swofford of Pittsburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children from 2-5 p.m. this Sunday at the Vandalia Country & Golf Club.
    They have three children: Kathy, Curt and Sandy; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
    Those attending are welcome to stay after the party and purchase their dinner at the country club.

     

  • Morrison – Plum

    Karen Morrison and Joshua Plum have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The future bride is the daughter of Iris Morrison and the late Cliff Morrison of Vandalia.
    The future groom is the son of Gary and Diane Plum of Vandalia and Barbara Plum of Vero Beach, Fla.
    The couple are planning a Sept. 25 wedding in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

  • Otto – Berkheimer

    Staci Otto of Ramsey and Brent Berkheimer of Trilla were united in marriage at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, on the beach in Mexico Beach, Fla., in a double-ring ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Leon and Cathy Otto of Ramsey.
    She is a 2004 graduate of Ramsey High School and a 2007 graduate of Lake Land College with an associate's degree in science. She is currently employed by K.C. Summers in Mattoon.
    The groom is the son of Tim and Deb Berkheimer of Trilla.

  • Jezek – Goldsboro

    Becky Jezek and Andy Goldsboro, both of Patoka, have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The future bride is the daughter of Bret and Trish Jezek of Salem. She is a 2005 graduate of South Central High School and a 2010 graduate of Kaskaskia College of Centralia with an associate's degree in respiratory therapy. She is currently employed as a respiratory therapist at Salem Township Hospital and at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

    Sheri George of Centralia and Mark Miles of Vandalia have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The future bride is the daughter of Gary and Jeri George of Centralia.
    The future groom is the son of Alice and the late Robert Miles of Vandalia.
    The couple are planning a 3 p.m. outdoor wedding on Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Vandalia Shrine Club, with a reception to follow at 5 p.m. at the same location.
