  • Wedding

    Lauren Marie Roberts of Vandalia and Allen Courtney Ash of Liberty, Mo. were united in marriage on Saturday evening, July 10, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St Louis, with Msgr. Mark Rivituso officiating.
    The bride is the daughter of Ken and Kathy Roberts of Vandalia. Grandparents are Edward and Margaret Earth of Mulberry Grove,  and Dean and Pat Roberts of Vandalia.
    The groom is the son of Bev Ash of Carterville, Mo., and Gregg Ash of Kearney, Mo.

  • Swarm – 50 Years

    Jerry and Sandra Swarm of Vandalia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 14, with a reception from 1-4 p.m. in the banquet room at Days Inn in Vandalia.
    The couple was married on Nov. 13, 1960, at First Christian Church in Vandalia.
    Roberta Worrell was the maid of honor, and John Eyster was the best man.
    The couple has two children: Mark Swarm of Columbia, Ill., and Michael Swarm and his wife Carolyn of St. Louis, Mo.

  • Birth - Trivitt

    Joshua James William Trivitt
    James Trivitt and Dana Kirkland of St. Elmo are the parents of a boy born on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis.
    He weighed 4 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 17 inches long. He was named Joshua James William Trivitt.
    He has two brothers, 4-year-old Michael and 3-year-old Daniel,  and one sister, 1-year-old Danna.

  • Birth - Wollin

    Aunika Kaylee Wollin
    Tony and Heather Wollin of Vandalia are the parents of a girl born at 9:24 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 20½ inches long. She was named Aunika Kaylee.
    She has one sister, 14-year-old Autumn Kay.
    Grandparents are Kay Kistler and the late Wayne Kistler, and Earl and Dee Wollin, all of Vandalia, and David and Kay Ennen of Greenville.
    Great-grandparent is Maggie Davis of Vandalia.

  • Anniversary - Verdeyen, 30 years

    Mike and Emma Verdeyen of Altamont are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on Oct. 31, 2010.  They were married at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, by the Rev. James Schroeder. 
    Parents of the couple are Esther and the late Loren Stine of Brownstown, and Henry and Dorothy Verdeyen of Altamont.  The couple has two daughters, Megan (Devin) Althoff of St. Joseph and Molly Verdeyen at home.
    They also have one granddaughter, Loren Althoff.

  • Anniversary - Price, 50 years

    Ronald and Mary Lou Price of Vandalia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows at First Baptist Church of Vandalia, followed with a dinner hosted by their children.
    Ronald and the former Mary Lou Dean were married on Nov. 4, 1960, in Quincy.
    They have three children: April Homes, Angela Graves and Brian Price.
    They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Daria Caroline Murray
    Dustin and Joleen Murray of Vandalia are the parents of a girl born at 10:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville.
    She weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 21 inches long. She was named Daria Caroline.
    She has three brothers, 8-year-old Drake, 8-year-old Dagon and 6-year-old Jayce, and two sisters, 5-year-old Jalyn and 2-year-old Joselyn.
    Grandparents are Dennis and Kathy Hall, and Dave Murray, all of Vandalia, and Rita and Darrell McCammack of Brownstown.

  • Anniversary

    Ross and Carolyn Kershaw of Vandalia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday, Nov. 1, with a family celebration hosted by their daughter.
    Ross and the former Carolyn Probst were married on Nov. 1, 1960, in Vandalia. Their attendants were Gracie Carmen and Frank Revisky.
    Carolyn is the daughter of the late Irvin and Marian Probst. She is a retired homemaker. Ross is the son of the late Cecil W. and Helen Kershaw. He is retired from Ameren.
