    Kaden Lane Schaefer
    Ryan and Jeanifer Schaefer of Beecher City are the parents of a boy born at 6:44 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
    He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 20 inches long. He was named Kaden Lane.
    Grandparents are Kenny and Kathy Bogart of Brownstown, and Evan Schaefer, and Matt and Amy Jones, all of Beecher City.

    Grace Lynn Cook
    Brian and Tina Cook of Vandalia are the parents of a girl born at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 20 inches long. She was named Grace Lynn.
    She has one brother, 3-year-old Aaron.
    Grandparents are Dorothy Jones of Vandalia, Charles Jones of Nokomis and Deb Cook of Mulberry Grove.
    Great-grandparents are Lynn and Dorothy Paine.

  • Dugan – 50 Years

    David and Ruth Dugan of Mulberry Grove will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Mulberry Grove Community Building.
    David and the former Patrechia Ruth Hathaway were married on Dec. 24, 1960, at First Baptist Church in Vandalia by the Rev. Archie Brown. Their attendants were Lily Hathaway Reed and Edward G. Dugan.
    He was a dairy farmer for more than 40 years, and later worked as transportation director at Mulberry Grove Community Unit No. 1.

  • Barnes – Peddie

    Rachel Barnes and David Peddie have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The future bride is the daughter of Gary and Javonda Barnes of St. Louis. Grandparents are John and Dorothy Barnes of Patoka, and Jennie and the late Joe Harner of Brownstown.
    She received her undergraduate social science degree in 2007 from Hope International University in Fullerton, Calif. She is employed by Hope as an undergraduate admissions counselor, while completing requirements for a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy.

    Debbie Wollin and Travis Moore, both of Vandalia, wish to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Earl and Diane Wollin of Vandalia. She is currently employed as a radiological and MRI technician by Greenville Regional Hospital.
    The groom is the son of Wayne and Lois Moore of Fillmore. He is currently employed as an operator engineer for the Local 520.
    The couple are planning a March 19, 2011, wedding at Bethel Baptist Church, Vandalia, with a reception to follow at the Moose Lodge in Vandalia.

  • Riedle Sworn in as Illinois Attorney

    Matthew A. Riedle (right) was sworn in as a member of the Illinois Bar on Nov. 4 at Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale. He was sworn in by Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier of the Supreme Court of Illinois, Fifth District. Riedle is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield and the University of Kansas School of Law. He is the son of Kent and Beth Riedle.

  • Shelton – 50 Years

    Lynn and Lou Shelton of Vandalia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Saturday.
    They are the parents of four children: Lavena Carrol of Lutz, Fla., Lavail Shelton of Tampa, Fla., Lavon Shelton of Brownstown and Lavern Shelton of Vandalia.
    They have 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
    The couple only knew each other for 27 days before they got married.

    Jeff and Amber Choisser of Valmeyer are the parents of a boy born at 1:38 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at St. John’s Mercy, St. Louis, Mo.
    He weighed 4 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 18 inches long. He was named Colin Jeffrey.
    Grandparents are Carl and Shelia Connell of Flora, Gary and Beth Emerick of Vandalia, and Dale and Vickie Choisser of Tennessee.
    Great-grandparents are Betty Barnett of Eldorado, Ann Emerick of Vandalia, and Elsie Hinkle, and Hunter and Rajean Connell, all of Flora.

    Molly DeClerck and Kyle Keppler were united in marriage on Sept. 10, 2010, at the Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia.
    The bride is the daughter of Becky DeClerck of Vandalia and Steve DeClerck of Pana.
    The groom is the son of Kevin and Shelly Keppler of Vandalia.
    The bride chose Abby Bayles, sister of the bride, as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Morgan Cripe, niece; Lindsay Lash, sister of the groom; and Katie Stanley, friend of the bride.

    Geno and Karen Cearlock of Vandalia celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Monday, Nov. 8.
    Geno and the former Karen Graumenz were married on Nov. 8, 1975, in Vandalia.
    Their attendants were John Cearlock and Judy Hoffek.
    Geno is the son of Bea and the late Gene Cearlock of Vandalia. He is retired from the Vandalia City Police Department.
    Karen is the daughter of Alvin and the late Edna Graumenz of Vandalia. She is employed at the Vandalia Wal-Mart.
