    She graduated from Collinsville High School in 1999, and graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with a concentration on photojournalism.
    She is currently the manager of the Avalon Exchange store in the Delmar/University City loop in St. Louis.

    Vandalia native Michael Ehrat has been named chief executive officer of Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas.

    Edward and Doris Helm of Vandalia will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7.


    Ed Helm and the former Doris Isbell were married at her parents’ home in Vandalia on Sept. 7, 1947.
    They are the parents of a daughter, Jan and her husband Pete Manuel of Marshall.
    They also have one grandson, Chris and wife Kim of Covington, Ga., and two great-granddaughters.

  • Rhoades inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame

    Nearly 19,000 adults volunteer annually to assist with local 4-H programs across the state. An elite group of those volunteers were honored Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds by the Illinois 4-H Foundation.

    Four local volunteers were inducted into the Illinois 4-H Foundation’s Hall of Fame, including Mary Ann Rhoades of Ramsey.

  • Completes Youth Police Program

    Iris Daiber of Vandalia graduated from the American Legion Youth Police Program on June 29. Daiber was sent to the program by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia.
