  • Reznick has art at EIU exhibition

    A Vandalia woman is among artists from throughout the state participating in an exhibition on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
    Lynn Reznick has entered a watercolor, “Buchanan’s Garage Door,” in the 19th Biennial Drawing/Watercolor: Illinois at the Tarble Arts Center at EIU in Charleston.
    The exhibition opened on Dec. 8 and runs through Feb. 24.

  • Longwell-Elam

    Sarah Mae Longwell and Donald Wayne Elam, both of Effingham, have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.


    The future bride is the daughter of Irma Clements and Leroy Longwell Sr. of Vandalia.
    The future groom is the son of Donald F. Elam and Mary Ann Elam of Vandalia.
    The couple are planning a private wedding on Aug. 17 of this year.

    Shawna Renee Marler of Mulberry Grove and David Andrew Sprague of Shobonier have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    Michaela Tarr and Nathan Oldfield, both of Lansing, Mich., were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Grand Ledge Country Club in Grand Ledge, Mich., with Judge Stewart Newblatt officiating.

  • Radliff – Sczurko

    Lauren Ashley Radliff and Aaron Peter Sczurko, both of O’Fallon, were united in marriage in a 4 p.m. ceremony on Aug. 11, 2012, at Grace Church in Mahomet, with the Rev. Brent Reese officiating.

  • Edgar – 60 years

    Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Edgar of Vandalia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family.


    The Edgars were married on Dec. 14, 1952, at the bride’s home in Shelbyville.
    They are the parents of three sons: Kim Edgar and his wife Paula of Vandalia, Kevin Edgar and his wife Connie of Vandalia, and Kelly Edgar and his wife Teresa of Greenville.

  • Junior Olympics Medalists

    Three local tumblers won medals at the Junior Olympics in Houston, Texas, in August.

  • $35,781 raised for Neurofibromatosis

    A fundraising event held last month in Fayette County generated nearly $18,000 for neurofibromatosis research, and an anonymous donation matched that amount, making the total raised $35,781.42.

  • Engagement

    Shannon Marie Harre and Wesley Dean VanZant have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The future bride is the daughter of Henry and Connie Harre of Brownstown.
    She is a 2004 graduate of Brownstown High School and a 2008 graduate of Greenville Christian College.
    She is currently employed as a fifth-grade teacher at Greenville Elementary.
    The future groom is the son of Ernest and the late Abigail VanZant of McLeansboro.
    He is a 1999 graduate of McLeansboro High School and a 2001 graduate of Rend Lake College.

  • Anniversary

    Hubert Jr. and Betty Williams of Brownstown will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 29.


    The couple was honored in October at a family reunion in Northern Illinois, where 46 relatives gathered and celebrated the occasion with cake and the sharing of fond memories.
