    Betty Hill of Vandalia, will be celebrating her 90th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 8, and her family is having an open house with cake and punch at her home.
    The fourth daughter of the late Nelson and Evelyn O’Dell, she was born and reared near Loogootee. She is one of seven children, all deceased except for her sister, Jerri Hadley of Ramsey.
    She is the wife of the late Victory Hill.

    Chelsey Rae Stewart and Jacob Andrew Joliff were united in marriage in a ceremony at 5 p.m. on May 25, 2013, at Hidden Lake Winery in Aviston, with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Russell and Julie Stewart of Vandalia.
    She was given in marriage by her parents.

    Jesse and Michelle Ruffner of Altamont are the parents of a girl born at 1:36 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

    An open house to celebrate the 80th birthday of Frank Emerick will be held from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday at the Senior Citizens Center, 616 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

    Friends and relatives are invited to attend, as he would like to see old friends and recall memories.

    Those attending included all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many friends.

    Now it’s easier than ever to learn computer and Internet basics from the convenience of your home, library or any Internet-enabled computer.
    This resource is now available free to patrons of Evans Public Library and can be accessed at Evans Public Library or by going to the library website, www.epl.lib.il.us.
    Patrons can take advantage of 18 beginner-level tutorials that cover computer and Internet basics, including using email, web browsing and social networking.
