    Hannah Ryann Stombaugh
    Zac and Kristin Stombaugh are the parents of a girl born at 4:54 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

    Hannah Ryann weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 21 inches long.
    Grandparents are Karen Brooks, and Rick and Margie Bachula of Saginaw, Mich., and Steve and Sandy Stombaugh of Vandalia.

    Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Meseke of Vandalia celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Gallatin Street Grille on March 30.

    Beulah Brown
    A bright and cheerful 90th birthday celebration for Beulah Brown was held at the home of Phyllis Rames.
    More than 20 women came to wish Beulah happy birthday and many more.
    Those present reminisced about her many years in Brownstown and Vandalia, and there were a few stories about her growing up just west of Effingham. She shared stories about her hundreds of students and travels.

    Mr. and Mrs. Dick Paul of Vandalia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on April 4.

    Allison Brown of Lexington and Mitch Whightsil of Vandalia have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.
    The future bride is the daughter of Ray and Jan Brown of Lexington.
    She is a 2009 graduate of Lexington High School and a December 2012 graduate of Illinois College in Jacksonville, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
    She is employed as the assistant volleyball coach at Illinois College.
    The future groom is the son of Rich and Renee Whightsil of Vandalia.

    A1C Matthew Hoffman
    Matthew Hoffman graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas on Dec. 27, 2012.

    Hoffman was then stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas for eight weeks, and he came home on leave on March 8.
    A munition system apprentice, he is now stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
    Hoffman is the son of Jeff and Lori Hoffman, and Stephanie Hoffman, and the grandson of Linda Schulte, Brenda Burtschi and Bob Hoffman.
