  • Brian Willenborg added to state's 4-H Hall of Fame

    The Illinois 4-H Foundation annually recognizes one 4-H volunteer per county for exemplary service to the Illinois 4-H program as a Hall of Fame winner, and Fayette County’s nominee this year is Brian Willenborg.

  • Fayette County 4-H'ers show well at state fair

    Fayette County 4-H’ers competed against exhibitors from throughout the state in the Junior Livestock Shows at the Illinois State Fair, Aug. 7-17.  
    Seth Purcell placed third with his Hereford/Polled Hereford steer 1,275-1,345 pounds in the Junior Show.
    Purcell placed second in the Land of Lincoln Cattle Show with his Hereford/Polled Hereford steer 1,365-1,407 pounds, and placed second in the Livestock Show with his Hereford/Polled Hereford steer 1,365-1,407 pounds

    Erin Doyle of Ramsey and Nicholas Burrow of Altamont have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    Emily Elizabeth Tally of Vandalia and Travis Mitchell Knebel of Smithboro were married in a ceremony at 4 p.m. on June 7, 2014, at Steve Knebel’s farm in rural Vandalia, with the Rev. Kurt Simon officiating.

    John and Sandy Ericksen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Friday.

    Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Lotz) Jenne of St. Peter will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday at St. Peter Village Hall.

    Daniel Maske, a fourth year student at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, is shown in the first photo being sworn in as an ensign in the Chaplain Corps of the Navy by his father, the Rev. Steven Maske, a retired Navy lieutenant and pastor of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Elgin.
