    Tim and Mindi Knebel of Vandalia are the parents of a boy born at 7:41 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville.

    Seiley Suzanne Hortenstine
    Ben and Dana Hortenstine of Ramsey are the parents of a girl born at 7:04 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

    Seiley Suzanne weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 19½ inches long.
    Grandparents are Harold and Janet Smedley of Pana, and Marc and Diane Hortenstine of Ramsey.
    Great-grandparents are Carolyn Hortenstine of Ramsey and the late Dan Hortenstine, the late Ben and Hester Allen, the late Arthur and Dorothy Smedley, and the late John and Millie Thull.

    Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor of rural Shobonier were honored at a reception on Saturday as they celebrate their 40th anniversary.

    ‘Chick’ Lawler
    Charles “Chick” Lawler, of Morton and formerly of Vandalia, marked his 95th birthday on Tuesday.
    The occasion will be celebrated with a family dinner on Sunday.

  • Good Crop of Spuds

    Andy Hoover of Mulberry Grove shows the unusually large potatoes he has grown this summer. Some of the red potatoes weigh as much as 2 1/2 pounds.
