    Thursday, Nov. 11 – Closed for Veteran’s Day.
    Friday, Nov. 12 – Barbecue pork on bun, augratin potatoes, baked beans and pineapple chunks.
    Monday, Nov. 15 – Beef and noodles, tossed salad w/tomatoes, copper penny carrots, pineapple and whole grain bread.
    Tuesday, Nov. 16 – Chicken strips, rice, brussel sprouts, sliced tomatoes, sliced tomatoes, tropical fruit and biscuit.  
    Wednesday, Nov. 17 – Chili w/beans, baked potato, cheese & crackers, pears, oatmeal cookie and birthday cake.

  • VFW Auxiliary to hold chili cook-off

    The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 3862 of Vandalia held its monthly meeting on Oct. 18.
    The ladies discussed the upcoming chili cook-off to be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at the post home. There is a sign-up sheet, and entry fee is $10, to be paid at registration.
    Entries will be open until noon on Nov. 13. All contestants will need to bring their chili in a Crock-Pot that holds at least 4 quarts.
    A discussion was held on the annual children’s Christmas party to be held in December.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    Thirty members and four guests of ExxonMobil Annuitants Club traveled to Litchfield for their monthly meeting and luncheon at the ChinaTown Restaurant.
    After everyone had arrived, the pledge of alliance was given and the meal blessing was given by Brock Fisher.
    After everyone had completed their meal, the meeting was opened by President Dean Black. A warm welcome was given to Charles and Evelyn Hainaut, who had not been able to attend for sometime due to health issues.

  • Relay for Life wins award

    Relay For Life of Fayette County was awarded the American Cancer Society’s prestigious Relay All Star Award at the Society’s recent Relay Leadership Summit in Itasca.
    With the Relay All Star Award, the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society honors Relay events that achieve significant fundraising and participant growth.
    This year, Relay For Life of Fayette County raised just over $65,000 with nearly 400 participants.

    Sunday morning worship attendance was 214.  Elders were Charles Wachholz and Curtis Jenne.  Organist was Kathy Bray. Acolyte was Tresston Bahde.
