    The descendants of John Frank and Pearl (Leininger) Libell and his sister, Isaac Noah and Lela Ellen (Libell) Linton met June 1 at Vandalia City Park.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met on May 29 at Maverick Restaurant in Litchfield, with 23 members, including new member Wayne Buck of Carlinville, and three guests.
    The pledge to the flag was given, followed by the meal prayer given by President Dean Black. After the buffet meal, Black welcomed everyone to the luncheon and meeting.
    He asked all members who had served in the military to stand, and he thanked them for their service to our country and then read a poem, “Freedom Is Not Free.”

    Farewell
    Sunday, June 8 was Scott Gercken’s last Sunday as organist at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
    His family is moving from the area.  
    Mini-Vacation
    Dane and Belinda Harpster attended the 400-mile yard sale last week from Thursday-Sunday.
    The sale began in Paducah, Ky., and ended in Washington, Tenn.
    They didn’t make the whole 400 miles, but did make almost 300 of it.

    Mayor Rick Gottman, right, signed a proclamation declaring this Saturday at Children's Miracle Network Roadblock Day.

    On Saturday, volunteers wil be accepting donations for the CMN. With Gottman are Franklin Terry III (center), an employee of Walmart and CMN volunteer, and his wife Jaynie, also a CMN volunteer.
