    In answer to inquiries
Betsy, the sweet little senior longhorn cow, has gone on to ever-greener pastures.
She held her head up, never stopped eating or drinking and never seemed to be in pain; she simply lay down next to the hayrack and wouldn’t get back up. Bill tried to help her up, but she wouldn’t make any effort.
Dr. Bristow prescribed aspirin for her and suggested warm water to drink.  Bill provided her good shelter to shield her from rain, snow and wind, plus a warm blanket.

    In Response to Inquiries
Lady, the sweet little senior mini-mare, is doing well, and staying snug and warm in the little barn she shares with Madricka, the mother donkey, and her son, Bucky. Of course, they have their own “apartments,” but share the window. The partition separating their living quarters is a wire cattle panel, which allows their body heat to benefit all three while they still have their own space.

Betsy Longhorn Feeling Under the Weather
Betsy Longhorn is a long-time member, actually the senior member, of the Homestead Critters. She has been with us for 21 years and is at least 22 years old (but doesn’t look a day over 15).
She has always been shorter in stature than the full-blooded longhorns, because she is part corriante. We had been approached several times over the years by ropers who wanted to buy her for practice. We were told her breed is good for roping.
