  • Locks of Love Donors

    Zennia Snow recently donated three ponytails of hair to Locks of Love at Wendy Goodin's shop, Wendy's Hair Styles. Also donating to Locks of Love, a program that provides hair pieces to cancer victims, at Goodin's shop were Joan Hendrickson and Carolyn Stilt.

  • Birthdays

    Max and Marge Watson
    An open house will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, at St. Elmo Christian Church to celebrate the birthdays of Max and Marge Watson.
    Marge celebrated her 90th birthday on March 4, and Max will celebrate his 80th birthday on Sept. 12.
    All family members and friends are invited to the celebration.

    A card shower has been requested for Kenneth Casey of Raymondville, Mo., and formerly of Vandalia, who will be celebrating his 80th birthday on Friday, July 22.

    Monday, July 11 – Barbecue ribbette on bun, cauliflower w/cheese, baked beans and apricots.
    Tuesday, July 12 – Grilled chicken breast, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, cinnamon applesauce, oatmeal cookie and whole grain bread.  

  • Reunions

    Shulman
    The 47th annual Maurice Shulman family reunion was held June 22-26 in Vandalia.
    Celebrated with the reunion were Maurice’s 94th birthday (June 23) and Maurice’s grandson Joe’s recent master's degree graduation from Boston University (June 18).
    No births, deaths or marriages occurred in the family this past year.
    Twenty-seven of the 36 descendants of Maurice and Golda Shulman attended.

    Mitchell Green
    Mitchell Green, an Army staff sergeant with the 2/2 Stryker Cavalry Regiment, has returned on block leave to his home in Vandalia after finishing a year-long combat deployment in Afghanistan as a squad leader in a Stryker vehicle unit.

  • Engagement

    Judy Morell of Ramsey and Ben Inman of Switz City, Ind., have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    The bride-to-be recently retired from Graham Packaging in Vandalia.
    The couple will be married at 3 p.m. this Satuday at Christ Tabernacle Apolstolic Church in Herrick.
    A reception at the Christ Tabernacle Eva Hunt Center will follow the ceremony.
