    Pvt. Eric S. Halleman
    Army National Guard Pvt. Eric S. Halleman has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

    Tuesday, Nov. 15 – Spaghetti w/meat sauce, pea salad, tossed salad w/dressing, mandarin oranges and garlic bread.  
    Wednesday, Nov. 16 – Vegetable soup, egg salad sandwich, crackers, apple cabbage slaw and birthday cake.

  • Reunion

    Porter
    The annual Porter reunion was held on Sept. 19 at Ramsey Lake State Park.
    A potluck meal was served at 12:30 p.m., and the afternoon included visiting, taking photographs, playing bingo and going over the history of the Wellington and Sarah Porter families.
    The reunion officers remained the same. A candy jar was passed around to guess how many pieces were in it; Dale Porter was the winner.

    Amanda and Brian Walk recently presented a donation of $12,790.15 to Dr. David H. Gutmann, director of the Neurofibromatosis Center at the Washington University School of Medicine.

    The St. Peter Lady Saints volleyball team traveled to Springfield over the weekend to compete in the LSA State Volleyball Tournament. They came home with a sixth-place finish.

  • Scotland Presentation

    Joyce Mueller gave a presentation on Scotland at the Fayette County HCE International Dinner.

    Mueller, a member of the Vandalia Day Unit of HCE, is a direct descendant of Scotland hero Robert, the Bruce, recognized as King Robert I in 1328. Mueller displayed about 50 photographs that she took during a visit to Scotland a few years ago.

    Devious & Daring Red Fox gets Breakfast-to-Go
    It was a sad day here on the Homestead Saturday when tragedy struck in broad daylight. It was the usual morning routine – let Josie, the 12 year-old-puppy, out the back patio door, walk on a few feet and let the girls, Anita and Blackie (hens), out and take Josie back in.
    As I let the girls out, I watched them run to their place where Bill puts their corn, just a few feet from where I was and near the deck.
