Blackie & Rhonda (hens) Declare Truce on the Chicken Roost
As our faithful readers know, Blackie, the bereaved hen, would not accept Rhonda, the red hen, as a friend, perhaps out of loyalty to Anita, her childhood playmate and mature hen, best-girl friend and confidant (who met a horrible fate when a devious Red Fox took her “out for breakfast”).

    Winterizing the Chicken Roost
With the temperatures taking a dip well below freezing, snowflakes drifting down and around, and the strong, cold, winds penetrating the surrounding timber, it was time to turn the heat on (not the oven or roaster), for the girls, Blackie and Rhonda (hens).
Papa Bear Bill bought them a brand new heat bulb and the roost is now much warmer.
The other outdoors critters seem to be making it OK, with new, fresh bedding put down in their barn.
