    Visits Daughter
    Belinda Harpster of St. Peter spent Tuesday and Wednesday last week in Gray Summit, Mo., with daughter Mahala.
    On Tuesday evening, they were dinner guests of Dale, Donna, Nathan and Nick Jacquin of Washington, Mo. On Wednesday, they finished unpacking and taking care of unfinished business.
    Mahala began her new job on Thursday at Purina Farms.
    Community Breakfast …
    … is Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran School gym, from 7-10 a.m., sponsored by St. Peter Community Pride Committee.

    Star, the Little White Dove…
    …is responding to spring. She sits in the sunshine and listens to the little wild birds in the trees just outside. of her window.
    We don’t know if she really watches them as they fly by, but she is attentive to the outside view. White, thin sheer curtains protect her from the sun’s really strong rays through the glass, but the view is very clear.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met on Thursday Feb. 23, at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia for its monthly meeting and lunch, with 24 members and four guests present.
    The pledge to the flag was given and followed with Brock Fisher giving the meal prayer.
    After the meal, the meeting was called to order by Vice President Cy Locke in the absence of President Dean Black. Guests were introduced, after which the minutes and treasures report for January were read and approved.

    Obtains Employment in Missouri
    Mahala Harpster of St. Peter received word on Friday that she had obtained employment at Land O’ Lakes/Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Mo.
    She will be moving in the next couple of weeks. Mahala graduated in December from Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Mo., with a bachelor’s degree in animal science/agri-business. She is the daughter of Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter.

    Sunday morning worship attendance was 185.
    The organist was Jamie Lotz.

    Critters Wiser Than Some of Us? (Just Musing)             
    Although shorts and flip-flops on bare feet were seen this past weekend on humans, we notice the critters are still wearing their fuzzy, winter coats. Thus, when the strong, cold winter winds blew in snow over the weekend, the critters did not have to hurriedly pull on warmer coats, socks and shoes.

    Callie, the Kitty, is Fastidiously Clean
    We don’t know how she does it, but Callie, who is a calico cat, but has a lot of white on her, never has any dust, dirt or mud on her coat. She will come in out of the rain or snow and should have some sort of uncleanliness on her, but even the bottoms of her paws appear spotless.

    Attends Shower
    Belinda Harpster of St. Peter attended the baby shower of daughter-in-law Gretchen Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Saturday.
    The shower was held in Jackson, Mo.
    Deaths
    Word has been received of the death of Floriene Borchelt Shuttner of Tulsa, Okla., on Feb. 19.
    Floriene is the sister of Helen Jasper of St. Peter.
    Violet Chrisman of St. Peter died on Feb. 23.  The funeral was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday.
