Our Critter Neighbors, “Straight” & “Flash”
“Straight” and “Flash” are the two beautiful horses that live in the pasture along our lane and yard, along with our neighbor’s longhorn cattle. We enjoy watching them and enjoy their visits much.
They seem happy and are high-spirited much of the time. They sometimes act like mischievous boys, as they will suddenly chase the cows for a few minutes, as if they talked about it and said, “Let’s do it!”

Star, the Little White Dove & the Little Woods Birds…
…were cooing and singing songs, beginning at dawn Saturday morning and continuing all day long.
When I stepped out onto the deck very early Saturday morning with little Josie, the 12-year-old “puppy”, the wildwoods birds were just singing their hearts out.
It sounded like wild bird songs recordings I have heard, only more full, sweeter, and fresher. It was delightful in the fresh morning air.

…erupted right at our feet the other night while we were peacefully (and drowsily) watching a TV show, scaring us almost out of our wits and sending Josie, the 12-year-old “puppy” into a frenzy.
It was just Callie, the (former) woods cat, when she apparently saw some unidentified predator at the patio screen door.
