    Weekend Visitors
    Mahala Harpster of Village Ridge, Mo., spent from Friday to Tuesday with her parents, Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter.
    On Friday evening, Mahala and Belinda joined Amy Reiss, Stacey Bergmann and Sue Urban for dinner at Applebees in Salem.
    On Saturday, they attended a fish fry at the home of Leland and Amy Reiss of St. Peter.  Nathan Jacquin of Washington, Mo., joined the family on Sunday evening.

    Settling In & Settling Down
    Josie, the going-on-14-year-old “puppy” is becoming accustomed to her new home (as we humans also are), and often just goes and naps on her little bed under the kitchen window and near the AC vent. She has also reclaimed her couch corner, which had not been moved here for a few days. With the furniture here, she seems to be more contented and “at home.”

    Members of the 1943 graduating class of Vandalia Community High School met for their 70th reunion on Saturday, Aug. 17.

    Garrison
    The Garrison family reunion was held on Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Phillips Building in St. Elmo.
    Ervin Garrison gave the blessing before the noon meal. A short business meeting was held, with the treasurer’s report given.
    One birth was reported: Rylee Jean Elmore, on Dec. 1, 2012, to Justin and Natasha Elmore.
    One death was reported: Clyde Tharp, on May 11, 2013.

    Visit Children
    Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter spent the weekend with their daughter, Amanda Eller and family of Jackson, Mo. On Sunday, they all met Mitch, Gretchen and Owen Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo., for lunch.

    Attendance on Sunday was 173. Cameron Brandt served as Acolyte. The organist was the Rev. Alan Holtz.

    Lilly-Wright
    The annual Lilly-Wright reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the First Church of God SHED in St. Elmo.
    A potluck dinner is at noon, with fried chicken, drinks and tableware being provided. Those attending are asked to take side dishes, main dishes, vegetables or desserts to share.
    After the potluck, a short business meeting and white elephant sale will be held.
