    From The Chicken Roost
Blackie and Rhonda’s Mystery Eggs – Blackie and Rhonda’s (hens) have always made a production of producing nice, big, brown eggs. However, recently, there was a reduction in the size of the eggs in both hens!
We could understand maybe a slight change in one, but we are puzzled why both seemed to slack off in the size of their eggs at the same time.
Sneaky Pate, the wily wolf, had been sighted a couple of times, but would anxiety and/or fear cause a reduction in egg size?

    Night Woods Critters are active
With all the rains, which soften and muddy the yard, we are seeing tracks of various little night critters who come out of the woods at night.
The Homestead Security Team of Katy, the black Lab/blue heeler mix, and Josie, the 13-year-old “puppy,” don’t really patrol diligently, or even together, but each responds to the presence of woods critters in their own way.

Poor Smoky, (the Adorable) Little Donkey …
… is beginning to look bedraggled and rather woeful as it rained yet again on his yard. He likes to lie on his side in the sun, but now, even if the sun is shining, his “sunning place” is muddy.
He doesn’t like to get his pretty ears wet, let alone get mud on them! A suggestion was made to put Astroturf on his portion of the outdoors “play & romp” place, but it was quickly vetoed.
