    Elam
    The Elam family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Mulberry Grove Community Building.
    A potluck lunch is at noon, and those attending are asked to take a covered dish and table service.

    Critters Keeping Cool
    Well, maybe not as cool as the proverbial cucumbers, but as they have plenty of water, shady areas to rest in and regular meals, they don’t seem to be feeling any stress weather-wise.
    Lady, the mini-horse, has a nice canopy (which was originally meant for the picnic table). It has a high center roof, so she gets the breeze flowing through it. We plan to build her a winter quarters before the snow flies, but the temporary shelter seems to be satisfying her.

    Installation
    Associate Pastor Bernard Ross was installed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont on Sunday.
    Ross and his wife, Katie, have a 2-year-old son, Daniel. He is a 2014 graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. A reception was held at the parish hall following the installation. The Rev. Bill Emrick was the preacher for the installation.
    Death
    Word was received that Sharon Mosley died last Thursday.

    Hoffman
    The Hoffman family reunion was held on June 15 in Rogier Park in Vandalia, with five families represented, those of Leonard, Harry, Edmund, Arnold and Raymond.
    Member of Albert’s family present were: Evelyn Probst of Ramsey; Connie Weller of Bethalto; Gail Greer of O’Fallon and Gary Probst of Long Beach, Calif.; May Della Probst of Bingham; and Bill and Rhonda Jacobs of Chatham.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met on June 26 at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia.
    Twenty-one members and four guests were present. President Dean Black welcomed all members and guests, followed by the pledge of allegiance. Black gave the blessing.
    The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved.
    Birthdays and anniversaries for June were read.
    Health updates were given and members signed two cards for members who are ill.
    The Deeds Awards were handed out to members who had 50 hours or more of volunteer time for the 2013 club year.

    Attend Birthday Party
    Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter, traveled to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to attend the seventh birthday party of grandson Dru Eller on Saturday.
    They spent the weekend at the home of Mitch, Gretchen, Owen and Aaron Harpster of Cape Girardeau.
    Mahala Jacquin of Villa Ridge, Mo., also joined them.  
    Visits Parents
    Keri, Elijah, and Emma Latin of Chase, Mich., spent the weekend with her parents, Larry and Sue Urban of St. Peter.
