    Veterans Day Service
    St. Peter’s Lutheran School Children presented a special Veterans Day chapel service last Wednesday. Coffee, juice, and donuts were served prior to the service. The children sang special songs for the guests, and Jim Norman was a guest speaker.
    Turkey Supper
    The annual turkey supper sponsored by St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and School will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24, in the school gym. Serving will begin at 5 p.m.

    Weekend Visitors
    Mitch Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo., spent Saturday night with his parents, Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter.
    Saturday evening dinner guests of Dane and Belinda were Mitch Harpster, and Ben, Amanda, Madison and Dru Eller.
    Mitch’s friends, Tony Krajefska and Ryan Kraemer, stopped in for a few minutes to visit with Mitch.  
    Larry and Sue Urban stopped in for a short visit on Sunday evening.

    Attendance on Sunday was 226. Ellijah Bahde served as acolyte.

    • Scout Pack #444’s seventh annual spaghetti dinner will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Meals are $6 for adults and $4 for children age 2-11; there is no charge for under age 2.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met on Oct. 31 at Chinatown Restaurant in Litchfield, with 38 members and two guests present.
    President Dean Black welcomed all members and guests followed by the pledge to the flag. A moment of silence was given fora the death of member Charles Hainaut. LaVerne Laux gave the blessing before the meal.
    After the meal, Black called the meeting to order. Vice President Mike Mulhern introduced two new members: Robert and Mary Lou Brown. Members all introduced themselves.

  • Ambuehl honored at CEFS annual meeting

    The C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corp. recently showcased its 48th year of accomplishments, demonstrating the fact that community action helps people and changes lives.
    During the 2013 annual meeting, some individuals were recognized for overcoming obstacles in obtaining or maintaining self-sufficiency.
    C.E.F.S. Chief Executive Officer Paul White said, “This past year, our programs and services truly made a real difference in the lives of residents of the community.”

    Critters Update
    Katy, the Lab/blue heeler mix (Bill’s dog) is now ensconced happily in her new quarters on the northern point of the lane (in other words, here with us).
    She is adjusting much better than we thought she would, as she had never seen the longhorn cows before.
