Women's self-defense course begins in January

A six-week women's self-defense course will begin on Jan. 2 at the Family YMCA of Fayette County.

The program will be held every Wednesday night through Feb. 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Registration cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members, and the course will be instructed by Don Theirry and Jessie West.

The program is designed to improve awareness and de-escalate situations, while learning in a safe environment.

Iron Wolf MMA program beginning in January

The Family YMCA of Fayette County is offering an Iron Wolf Mixed Martial Arts program on Wednesday nights in 2013.

The classes will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. each week.

Registration cost is $15 per month for members, and $30 per month for non-members, and the course is instructed by Don Theirry and Jessie West.

The program provides a workout that increases cardio capacity, muscle endurance and core strength, while also developing self-discipline and self-defense skills.
