• Abigail Hill of St. Elmo was crowned Miss Fayette County Fair 2012 at the Fayette County Fair in Brownstown. Sarah Craig of rural Vandalia was crowned Junior Miss Fayette County, and Shelby Sasse of Brownstown was named the 2012 Little Miss Fayette County.
• After Vandalia aldermen discussed the idea of switching the position of city treasurer from an elected position to an appointed one, City Attorney Jack Johnston drafted a letter laying out the council’s options. The council approved that change later in the month.
