Wrestlers post big win over Herrin

VANDALIA – Before the season started, Vandals wrestling coach Jason Clay emphasized that to be successful, his team needed to wrestle strong matches at every weight class.

Furthermore, he said that is especially true when his athletes are wrestling against state-caliber individuals.

Against Herrin on Saturday, the Vandals showed that they have bought into the theory.

Vandal athletes went 1-2 against Herrin’s top three wrestlers, but neither of the two losses were pins, and Vandalia overmatched the Class 2A Tigers, 60-10, in a dual meet.
