Winds of war are blowing

Beware! The winds of war are blowing across the European continent. I don’t mean to sound like Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds." Russian armies have proven themselves at Stalingrad in 1942. Stalin was no better than Hitler; he killed 50 million of his own people. In World War II, Russia could sweep across Europe in a matter of weeks. It happened in the 1930s. Putin is another Stalin.
The U.S. is down-sizing its military forces, just like in the '30s. Will Russian tanks be rolling down streets of Vandalia?
I feel like the U.S. is underestimating the Russian army. Remember the Cuban missile crisis in 1962? We had very strong leadership in the White House then, also.
Remember the movie "Red Dawn" that came out in 1980s? It showed a group of school kids fighting Russian soldiers. Just maybe Bill Ehart saw something about communion.
We don’t even have a draft anymore. I’ve talked to many combat veterans in South Central Illinois. They also think there will be war. Russia has the largest reservist army in the world.
How soon people forget. It’s only been 70 years since World War II. We don’t even have an experienced general to lead our troops, like in World War II. Again, this letter is not meant to scare anyone, just to make them think.
